Google announced Tuesday that they are developing a fully fledged operating system. This is something that surprised everyone, but when you really think about it Google is a huge company and its nothing we couldn’t see happening in the near future. They say the new operating system, “Chrome”, will target netbooks specifically, although it will be compatible with any computer system. It is designed to be fast, simple, and secure. Google makes it clear that this operating system is being built upon the web. All of the applications will be web based, and cloud computing will reach a whole new level. The open source operating system will begin appearing in netbooks starting in late 2010. Chrome could be very useful for teens who use laptops or netbooks for school. You can boot up in seconds to take notes in class, and can access files from home over the internet. I’m sure new information will arise soon on this topic, so we will keep you updated. In the meantime, tell us what you think about it. (P.S) Sorry for the delayed post, we were experiencing some technical difficulties with the site.
